Why the JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Orchestrator Announcement is a Big Deal

  The recent EnterpriseOne Tools announcement  was so chock full of goodies (from UX One to functionality enhancements and new platform certifications) that it was easy to miss what is probably one of the most significant changes I think I have seen in quite some time.  The module formerly known as the IoT Orchestrator got more than just a new name.  Renamed the EnterpriseOne Orchestrator, the tool is now about more than just connecting ‘things’ and is becoming the communications backbone for your connected systems. These new enhancements should have you rethinking your entire JD Edwards integration strategy. Throw out the very idea of programmers developing custom code to push data in and out of JD Edwards.  The new Orchestrator Studio is a tool for Business Analysts to enable external applications or data to interact directly with the same JD Edwards applications your users do by ‘virtually pushing the buttons.’  The Orchestrator uses the same technology that drives JD Edwards Mobile Applications and UX One – the AIS Server – to expose the functionality built into JD Edwards applications.  No need to write complex logic wrapped around APs—your external systems are using the functionality exactly as you have configured it for your users.  Messaging?  Built in to send messages to the Work Center or external email systems, letting you engage in the conversations your systems are having when you need to. Did I mention there is no longer a separate license fee?  The Orchestrator is now part of your Foundation license. Simple. Powerful. Free.
