Fulfillment Management Case Study

Recently, at InFocus17, John Walczak presented a customer case study that demonstrated improved response to customer demand through Fulfillment Management.  We packed 70 attendees in a room for 45 and not everyone was able to attend. In case you missed it, here is a recap. (Email us for a replay schedule.)

Customer Profile

Our client is a premier chocolate manufacturer located in the northeastern United States.  With over one thousand employees and producing between one and two billion chocolate bars and truffles annually, they are a major manufacturer in the US.

The Challenge

With their products in high demand, the client was looking for ways to improve the order fulfillment process. They were challenged to do more with the same, or less. They recognized that manual activities and customizations were slowing them down, and they needed a way to streamline these processes if they wished to avoid additional hiring or turn business away.

The Solution

Corning Data helped our client implement JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Fulfillment Management. Fulfillment Management enables companies to optimize delivery by prioritizing orders according to rules and service level information. Some of the benefits of Fulfillment Management include:

  • Better compliance (few fines)
  • Management by exception
  • More standardized processes
  • Elimination of custom processes (backorder processing)
  • Easier management of customer priority
  • Accurate lead times
  • The “one stop shop” customer service workbench

The Results

Our client experienced an increased fill rate, leading to improved customer satisfaction. The improved efficiency of order fulfillment resulted in reduced overtime hours required for employees, which in turn resulted in increased employee satisfaction. This also delayed an otherwise urgent need to hire new employees, which led to more predictable operational expenses. And finally, information improvements led to better “fact-based” discussions between the Sales & Production Planning teams, making collaboration more effective.
